COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMMES
The Centre started a regular community forum in Jos in 1991. The CRISA
Seminar on Drug Issues is an opportunity to educate the public about
alcohol and other drugs and the social consequences of drug abuse. It is
also an opportunity for participants to learn about available prevention
and treatment resources in the country or in their communities. Topics
addressed in past seminars include "Drugs and HIV/AIDS", "Tobacco or
health", and "The burden of alcoholism." In order to make this outreach
service available to as many people as possible, the seminar will now be
held at different locations within and outside Jos. CRISA has worked with
many voluntary service organizations and professionals in this project and
continues to seek such collaboration. CRISA has recently initiated a HIV/AIDS
prevention and counseling programme in collaboration with Pro-Health
International with a workshop in Makurdi, Benue State.
